Fun Cocktail Hour Treat for Wedding Guests

wb Leave a Comment

If you want to do something a little different for your guests during cocktail hour, this idea is a real treat. These strawberry margarita Jello shots are easy to make and really cute.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Strawberries (think 4 to 5 per person)
  • Jello and your favorite alcohol (tequila works well with these)
  • Margarita salt
  • Limes

Start by mixing up your Jello – you can use whatever recipe you like best. Typically, you replace the water or half the water in the recipe with alcohol. You will then use a knife and melon baller to slice the tops from the strawberries and scoop out the insides. You can reserve these for a special dessert if you don’t want to throw them away.

Next, you will fill the strawberries with the Jello and alcohol mixture. Place them in an egg carton to keep them from spilling. Then, place them in the refrigerator for 1 to 3 hours or until the Jello is set. Next, take the strawberries out and roll the top edges in margarita salt. You can also use colored sugar if you don’t want the salty taste on your strawberries. Zest some lime peel to mix in with the salt or sugar for a little extra kick.

Strawberry Margarita Jello Shots

Garnish with small lime wedges, mint sprigs or anything else your heart desires. These aren’t difficult to make and they’re a super cute cocktail hour treat for your wedding guests. If you don’t want alcohol at your wedding, simply make the Jello with water and have a fun non-alcoholic Jello shot!
