If you want to give out a wonderful gift for your bridal shower, why not make your own scented soaps? Place these in beautiful favor bags or boxes and you’ll have a gift your girls will adore. Plus, scented soap is very simple to make. Here’s what you’ll need:

Glycerin Blocks – 1 Pound per 3-5 Guests

Essential Oil in Your Favorite Scent

Soap Molds of Your Choice

Plastic Cellophane Wrap

You’ll need a double boiler for this, but if you don’t have a double boiler, you can make an improvised one. Simply place a glass or metal bowl in a pot of boiling water (it’s best if the bowl fits just inside the pot). Your glycerin blocks will go inside the bowl. Chop them up and then place them inside, stirring occasionally as they melt.

Eventually, they will become all liquid. This is when you’ll carefully (use pot holders) pour the glycerin into the soap molds. You’ll want to wait a few minutes before putting your essential oil in the soap molds because if the glycerin is too hot, the oils will evaporate and leave no scent. When the glycerin has cooled but isn’t yet firm, place 5-10 drops of essential oil in each mold.

Allow the soap to cool completely before popping it out and wrapping it in cellophane. You can make your soap more fun by adding things to the glycerin mixture. Make oatmeal soap, chamomile soap by dropping in chamomile flowers, exfoliating scrub by adding in sugar, etc. It’s a lot of fun and your girls are sure to love these delicious-smelling gifts.
