What girly girl doesn’t?!

A few weeks ago I got to get a behind the scenes look at MyGlassSlipper.com. What can I say…I know people! Actually, a sorority sister of mine is the Senior Marketing and Operations Manager at their headquarters, not too far from where I live, and she gave me the grand tour (thanks, Megan!).

MyGlassSlipper (along with BridalShoes.com) carries tons of options for the shoe-loving bride. Designers include Paris Hilton, Kate Spade, Stuart Weitsman, Freya Rose, Badgley Mischka and more. Of course, you can also do the dyeable thing too (for you or your bridesmaids) – they offer lots of colors to pick from.

Megan emailed me today to tell me about these two new shoes they just got in from a small London based designer (Freya Rose). I had to share them – here they are (Avalanche and Della, respectively)!

I love just about all of the Badgely Mischka options, too. I’ll take one of each, thanks. ;)

Have a fantastic week!

Any Twilight fanatics out there? I’m definitely one (yes, I admit it!), so I was THRILLED to see this article from InStyle. The magazine asked top designers to sketch their ideas of Bella’s dress (4th book). Check out what some of them came up with – love ‘em!

Rainy Day

by Katie on October 22, 2009 · 1 comment

in Fashion and Trends

It has been raining much to much these days, at least where I live, so I’ve had to make use of the rain boots. While they aren’t particularly my favorite accessory, they sure are useful. So, today I wanted to share with you some rain boot inspiration…with a wedding twist, of course!

Is your big day expecting rain? Plan ahead. Rain or shine, boots and umbrellas can make for some super cute photo opportunities. Check out the image below from Kerry Morgan.

BMRainBoots

Need a white pair to match your light colored, wedding day ensemble? Check out these fabulous Original Hunter Wellington Rain Boots.

WhiteRainBoot

Need something a bit more colorful for the ‘maids? How about the same brand in a different color? Love these, which can be found at Piperlime.

PinkRainBoot

Or perhaps you’re looking for something a bit more…branded? I’d take either of these – Burberry or Coach.

BAMBAKO

Headbands are “hot” – in mainstream fashion and in bridal. For brides going without a veil, they can add the perfect little something, taking their do’s from everyday to wedding day. Sporting a veil for the ceremony? Remove it after the “I Dos” and live it up at the reception with another hair accessory, like these fabulous selections from BAMBAKO, created by designer Abigail Ricarte.

V-Neck Fabulousness

by Katie on July 16, 2009 · 0 comments

in Fashion and Trends

Any v-neck fans out there? I have about 30 v-neck tees in my closet right now (not really, but I wish!). Wedding gowns with similar necklines are so “in” right now and I’m loving every second of it! Check out some of this eye candy from Priscilla of Boston.

vineyardjustine

This is “Justine” from the Vineyard Collection – I love how the sheath silhouette flows perfectly with the neckline. It elongates the body (which I’m sure this model doesn’t need any help with) and just makes her float right down the runway. I imagine a similar affect would be given on a walk down the aisle. The bejeweled bodice adds just the right amount of sparkle. Love it!

tasha

You can probably see that “Tasha”, also from the Vineyard Collection, shares a few features with Justine. They have very similar necklines and bodices. I included this one is because it (or one like it) could so easily be added to with a few fabric flowers, a white or colored sash, or whatever you like! It’s simple and modern on its own, but also acts as a great backdrop for additions, accents, or simply showcasing stunning jewelry.

boston

While this showstopper doesn’t have a fab name (to my knowledge, she’s known as “Style 4301″), we still love her! She’s sporting that oh-so-wonderful neckline with a a-line/mermaid silhouette mix. I like it with the flower accent, and I think it’d look great without, too! This little number would work amazingly well with a longer traditional veil or a hip birdcage. Anyway you go, you won’t go wrong!

Picking out bridesmaids dresses can be just as fun as picking out the wedding gown (at least in my opinion). Whatever will your ladies wear on your big day? What do you see them is as they walk down the aisle before you?

These days, almost anything goes with bridesmaid dresses. Look at this “wild” pick from David’s Bridal “Bridal Party Collection”. It’s not your “usual” BM dress, which I find refreshing. If it fits the tastes of your ladies, they could definitely be worn long after the wedding.

I also adore this piece from Kathlin Argiro – the “Short Present”. I think it is oh-so-classic yet completely chic and “now”. I love it in every color, but my absolute favorite is the timeless black and white.

I really like the looks J. Crew has going for their bridal parties, too. These simple ones are always my favorites (could you tell?).

Noticing any trends? Shorter bridesmaids dresses seem to be everywhere. Are you having your ‘maids wear something on the shorter end? While not all these dresses are super simple, simplicity is also a trend I’m seeing, along with perhaps one or two large embellishments (like a flower, sash, bow, etc.).

Peacocks

Peacocks!

About a year ago I remember seeing on TV a bride who wanted her wedding theme to be all about peacocks. Peacock feathers, peacock colors and even real peacock at the reception.
Back then, my reaction was the same as her wedding planner: Huh?!?! Peacock?!?! That sounded just too much!!!

Today, if you look around, peacocks are everywhere…

There are so many ways that you can actually incorporate the peacock theme into your wedding and go over the top!!
It really does look beautiful…

If peacocks are on your mind, here are some inspirations:

When the weather is dreary I always think of vacationing, and one of the most beautiful places I’ve been is Maui. While staying there, you see signs asking people not to take the beach home with them. In fact rumors were created saying if you take any of Hawaii of the island, you’ll have bad luck for 10 years! And I can’t blame them for being so cautious, because if I could, I’d plop the island in my pocket and take it home with me!
I met Jamee Jones, jewelry maker and owner of Jonara Blu Maui , who runs her business out of Maui on the side of the Volcano. Imagine the view! She draws all her inspiration for her jewelry from her breath-taking surroundings. She mixes shells, pearls, silk and beads into delightful pieces that are perfect accessories for any beach wedding. This is a excellent way of taking a piece of Maui without offending the islanders.

While scheming my imaginary Hawaiian wedding, I picked out my favorite piece called "Champagne Circles ," (love the name also) which is made with mother of pearl shell, Swarovski crystal, silk, gold and freshwater coin pearls. The freshwater pearls are an added bonus for me, because it was my husband’s first gift to me! And I also handmade freshwater pearl necklaces, as gifts, for all by bridesmaids.

Love Siena Heart
