Newly engaged? Congratulations!! The holiday season is a popular time to pop the big question. If you want to start the planning process on the right foot, here is a little tidbit to start you in the right direction.

  • Set a date! First things first. You can’t book vendors unless you have a date. It might sound easy…

  • Go for the big ticket items. By this I mean, scout out your ceremony and reception site locations. Book them if you know for sure that’s where you want your events to be held.

  • If you are absolutely sure you will be using a certain florist, baker, etc. book him or her. Why wait if you know you plan on using their services?

  • Make a “Wedding Portfolio”. Put all the things you like (and a separate section for things your detest) in one place so they are easily accessible. Take it a step farther by creating an “Inspiration Board or Book” that has your specific colors, venues, fabrics, etc. You can definitely add to it as you go, but it is helpful to have something to build off of. For instance, if you have some color swatches, taking them to your future appointments will only help things along.

Most importantly? Enjoy being engaged! And prepare to have your picture taken … a lot.

It’s so true. The most important thing is to ‘enjoy’ it. So many brides get caught up in details of the wedding planning and forget to enjoy it.
