Madame Dariaux - Part I

You just gotta love her. Madame Dariaux, a French style guru, has quite a bit to say about the men in our lives. Here are some our favorites:

On Diamonds
“Men who offer diamonds are either very rich or very much in love. Conclusion: Hurrah for diamonds!”

On Elopements
“This romantic tradition has completely gone out of fashion. Ladders setup in the middle of the night against bedroom balconies disappeared together with parental authority.”

On Fidelity

On Guests
“Come now, don’t be more charming to men than to their wives…”

On Happiness
“Don’t expect any man to bring you permanent happiness every morning on a breakfast tray.”

On Husbands
“The first stey of every civilized society is to transform the males into husbands. The word still enjoys considerable prestige and is pronounced with a capital H by almost all women.”
