Sky High

Talk about an interesting concept. I saw this post over at WeddingBee by Miss Sea Breeze. I could not help but to investigate further.
Imagine dining with twenty two of you friends or business associates, getting married, or just watching something entertaining 120 (or more) feet up in the air. Interested? Then you should check out Events In The Sky. This company hoists people up into the air via crane, in numerous locations around the world, for a few hours of dining, wedding, or entertainment in the sky. No worries, everyone is strapped to their seats or attached by harnesses so there is no falling off the platform!
The company has a few divisions: Dinner in the Sky, Meetings in the Sky, ShowBiz in the Sky, and Marriage in the Sky. “Sky” events can be found all over the world, but as far as finding some locations in the US? Currently, your options are Orlando and Las Vegas.

Check out their main site for more info! Any readers out there participated in an Events in the Sky production?
I’ve been tagged!

I am honored! I have been tagged by the fabulous Missy Collins over at IsntSheLovely. So here goes!
Four things I did today:
1. Ate a waffle, with butter and syrup. Delicious…and dangerous!
2. Checked, and still checking, my email (about every 30 minutes).
3. Chatted with a fabulous person on AIM.
4. Went to a meeting.
Four things on my to-do list:
1. Work on articles for KCWeddingScene.com.
2. Blog.
3. Plan a holiday party!
4. Eat lunch.
Four of my guiltiest pleasures:
1. Candy.
2. TV - I don’t watch it that much…and when I do, it’s usually online (ironic, right?). Thanks goodness for networks putting their shows on the ‘net!
3. Sleeping in. I never seem to do it enough (at least imo).
4. Architecture/interior design/home decorating magazines.
Four random facts about me:
1. I have a real soft spot for babies. If I didn’t mind “medical stuff”, I’d want to be a “baby doctor” (as I prefer to call them).
2. Love to wear the color black. It’s my “power color”.
3. Love all things that are “preppy” - topsiders, argyle, Vineyard Vines, canvas totes, etc.
4. I have a LOT of really fabulous people in my life.
Four blogs that I’m tagging (and that I adore):
1. Swanky Tables
2. Peonies and Polaroids
3. The Preppy Wedding
4. Josh Solar Photography

And this: “The foolish [wo]man seeks happiness in the distance. The wise [wo]man grows it under [her] feet.”

Lucky Charms

I love this sugary cereal, but that’s not what this post is about. It’s about wedding charms!

From WWWearables
There are a few cute things you can do with these little guys. Turn them into wine glass markers, a charm bracelet, dangle them from your bouquet, or hide them in your bridal shower cake for a fun game of lucky charms.
Check out Wedding Cake Charms for more info about what each charm means. Fun stuff!

Etsy is fabulous. The site which is all about handmade items has some of the most chic wedding tidbits out there. I simply must share a few of my favorite finds.
Keyka Lou’s Bridesmaid’s Clutches

And, if you’re a crafty bride, you can purchase the pattern, receive it in a PDF format, and get to sewing! Visit the shop!

Precious, delicate and oh-so-cute, these little creations are just too sweet to pass up. Visit the shop!

While the whole “will power” bit plays no significance in my admiring the links, I love them nonetheless. Visit the shop!

I have always loved these things! They would make super cute shower favors or save the dates (again, for you DIY brides). Visit the shop!

Madame Dariaux - Part IV

Our last segment from Madame Dariaux.
On Rejuvenation
“If you really want to be rejuvenated, it isn’t enough to smear yourself with cream or to have your face lifted; you must also refrain from ‘thinking old’. The two best recipes for rejuvenation are: surrounding oneself with young people and trying to understand them; and falling in love, even late in life.â€
On Restaurants
“Study men carefully in restaurants, for in these places their characters show up and you can see at once whether a man is timid or sure of himself, generous or stingy, a glutton or a gourmet, attentive or egotistical, witty or boring – in other words, whether or not it would be worth your while to become interested in him.â€
On Slippers
“Show me your bedroom slippers and I will tell you how old you are. You start out in life with tiny sky-blue booties knitted by your mother. You start marriage barefoot; but you soon start to sit down to breakfast in slippers. Finally, the day when your grandchildren bring you a pair of fur-lined slippers, you may as well admit that you have grown old.â€
On Snoring
“If he really snores like a vacuum cleaner, don’t get angry or play the role of an insomniac martyr; simply go and sleep on the sofa in the living-room.â€
On Strangers
“A stranger loses half his charm the day he is no longer a stranger.â€
On Strength
“A man may be Hercules on the outside and have the soul of a mouse, or he may be Mickey Mouse with the soul of Hercules. If you ever have to choose between these two types of men, do not hesitate to pick the mouse with the courageous heart.â€
On Surrender
“Never forget that the day you surrender to a man is the day of your defeat and of his victory; the suspense is over and satiety lies ahead.â€
On Tenderness
“The tenderness one feels for another person is a marvelous sentiment that warms the soul. It is very close to love, but much less demanding and more understanding; in fact it is often the final stage of a great passion, and it is more comforting in old age than anything else I know. Perhaps there is nothing in the world more touching than the sight of a very tender elderly couple.â€
On Two
“Two people in bed, in a restaurant, on holiday, and in life in general, is the ideal number, and I have never understood why young people want to multiply it so quickly. They would do better to exhaust all the selfish pleasures for two before becoming involved in the adventure of raising a big family.â€

On Muscles
“Personally, I prefer wit. In general, a man retains his wit until the day he dies, whereas his muscles…â€
On Music
“If you don’t have the same taste in music, I hope your home is a very large one!â€
On Mystery
If women knew how much they are losing by unveiling all their charms, they would hurriedly don ankle-length dresses again.â€
On Orders
“The first requirement of an order is to be clear; the second is to be politely phrased – in other words, to bear the least possible
On Patience
“Town clerks ought to give each newly-wed couple a treatise on patience along with the marriage license, for they will need unlimited supply of it during their married life.â€
On Pease
“Before it is possible to life in peace with others one must be at peace with oneself – a condition that is also called happinessâ€
On “Perhapsâ€
“The word ‘perhaps’ is the most effective bait with which to lead on an admirer.â€
On Pajamas
Even the most conservative man in the world at the office may dress with a bit more originally in bed. Besides, he should consider the fact that, just as he hates to see his wife in a long flannel nightgown, she may not feel like sleeping next to a convict in stripes.â€

Madame Dariaux - Part II

Here is some more timeless advice and wisdom from Madame Genevieve Dariaux on the topic of the men in our lives.
On Jokes
“Private jokes hold a family or couple together more closely even than blood. Before you pronounce that fateful ‘yes’, you might add up the hours during which you’ve laughed together, and if you find only a few minutes, quickly give up the idea of this marriage – or at least postpone it long enough to give the man you love a chance to invent a certain number of jokes for just the two of you. They will provide you with your most enduring memories.â€
On Insurance
“A perfect husband takes out all kinds of insurance, which is why it is advisable to have a perfect husband.â€
On Intimacies
“There are some intimate details in which men have no interest. So please, I beg you, keep your stories of ovaries to yourself.â€
On Jewelry
“A man who loves jewels has no alternative but to offer them to his wife.â€
On Keys
“When you have found the right key – the one that opens a man’s heart – there is a good chance that it will also open his safe deposit box; it is a master-key.â€
On Legs
“I leave it to you to imagine what our streets scene will look like when men start wearing skirts.â€
On Me
“This particular word should be forgotten on the steps of the church in which you have just been married.â€
