Those Bridesmaids’ Dresses

I saw this post not too long ago on Style Me Pretty, and I absolutely LOVE Jenny Yoo’s new stuff.

I particularly like this dress because it is one of those dresses your bridesmaids could possibly wear again.

Add a little jacket or shawl, cute heels or funky flats, and you’ve got a whole new look. Holiday party, anyone?

Take a Break!

As we all know, wedding planning can be stressful! No matter how much fun you are truly having, you can’t avoid vendors and family needing to change plans last second, unexpected changes in the schedule, and that pesky little blemish on the right side of your nose right before your hair and makeup test run. And of course, there is the relationship with your soon-to-be. Little things can turn into big issues as the days and weeks and months of wedding planning pass by. So how do you spend a little time with your honey and keep the wedding stress to a minimum!? Here are a few fun ideas (just remember, no wedding talk during the activities)!

Catch a flick. And no, it CAN’T be about weddings or have any weddings in it. If you have trouble NOT talking about the wedding, this is a great little date as there shouldn’t be much talking involved. If your man has been super great thus far in the planning process, let him pick the flick.

Get some exercise together. Nothing beats releasing endorphins! So run to the gym and hit the treadmill and weights. Working out together will help inspire you to look fabulous for the big day, without actually talking about it.

Cook dinner. Make it a big event by getting dressed up and lighting a few candles. Who knows, maybe you’ll create a fabulous dish you’ll make for years and years to come.

Get creative. Excited about moving into a new apartment or house, but dread all the little projects you need and want to do to make it “just right”? Get as much finished as you can pre-wedding so you don’t have to worry about it when you come back from your honeymoon. Get together and sew those new drapes or restain your kitchen table.

Write thank you notes. Okay, okay. So this one has WEDDING written all over it. But! Those thank you notes wont write themselves. If you’ve been holding off on writing them, take a few hours out of your week, order a pizza, and get to writing. (And don’t forget about the gifts you receive on your actual wedding day once you return from your honeymoon!)

Paper Flowers

Years ago I saw a episode of Martha Stewart where her guest was a women that made, yes made, all of her flowers…out of paper! She would make a few here and there when she had some time and saved them up. By the time the wedding day rolled around, she had completed all that she needed!

There is no reason, if you so desire, that you couldn’t do the very same thing! Or perhaps you like the idea but do not wish to deck out your entire day in paper flowers - simply apply where you feel necessary!

Bubble Hem

I love these! Though I call them “pumpkin skirts” or “pumpkin dresses”, I’m pretty sure the proper term is a dress or skirt with a “bubble hem”. They are fun and flirty, but not too “out there”. You can tie them into many themes (and by themes I mean wedding “vibe” or the overall feel you’re going with)! Go wild!

Trendy Yet Timeless : Lanterns

You see lanterns in a number of places, so why not think about incorporating them in to your wedding? Not only can they be found in a number of different styles, but they can serve multiple purposes; a decorative element and a lighting element. They can also be used in more than one place; for the ceremony and for the reception, making them a cost-efficient wedding purchase. Read on for some ideas!

For the idea of using lanterns in your ceremony, try hanging them from shepherd’s poles down the aisle or at the opposite ends of the rows of chairs/pews. Or, simply place them along the aisle on the floor, alone, or paired with floral arrangements, rose petals, or some other decorative element of your choice. With some good planning and great timing, you could have someone transport the lanterns from the ceremony site to the reception site to place around the dance floor, incorporate into the center pieces, or to place along the entrance of your reception space (or whatever else your creative mind can think up)!

For outdoor weddings and receptions, simply hanging the lanterns from large trees that project overhead can have a great overall affect (see the picture below).

A tidbit from Palm Peach!

I must apologize for the short posts this week! I’ve got a lot going on, but hopefully they’ll still make for a good read.

Take a look at this great post from Palm Peach, a fabulously preppy blog.

I LOVE these sweet sun dresses, which would make wonderful bridesmaids dresses, a great rehearsal dinner dress or morning-after brunch dress, especially for those events in the summer months or near a beach!

There are a ton of great posts over at Palm Peach, so check them out! :)
