Happy Tuesday! One of our readers sent me an email yesterday about this fabulous post on Beau-Coup’s blog: “Top 20 Unique Bridal Shower Games“. My personal favorite is “Wedding Ring Dec-a-cake”.
That post then lead me to yet another good one: “Bridesmaid Dos and Don’ts“. You know the article is good when you read this: “Do help the bride lift up her gown as she goes to the bathroom. Don’t go back and tell everyone what you did.” So true!
And just a side note. I love their personalized mint tins. If you want to go that rout for favors or if you are just looking for little goodies to give to your ‘maids, they make the perfect gifts that can be refilled or used for something else, post-mints!

My favorite designs:

I think these two colors are a happy mix. A bride-to-be that I know is thinking about using this color combo – I love it. (Pardon the ugly boarder…I love polyvore and I love our blog, but sometimes to two just don’t mix well).

As we all know, wedding planning can be stressful! No matter how much fun you are truly having, you can’t avoid vendors and family needing to change plans last second, unexpected changes in the schedule, and that pesky little blemish on the right side of your nose right before your hair and makeup test run. And of course, there is the relationship with your soon-to-be. Little things can turn into big issues as the days and weeks and months of wedding planning pass by. So how do you spend a little time with your honey and keep the wedding stress to a minimum!? Here are a few fun ideas (just remember, no wedding talk during the activities)!
Catch a flick. And no, it CAN’T be about weddings or have any weddings in it. If you have trouble NOT talking about the wedding, this is a great little date as there shouldn’t be much talking involved. If your man has been super great thus far in the planning process, let him pick the flick.
Get some exercise together. Nothing beats releasing endorphins! So run to the gym and hit the treadmill and weights. Working out together will help inspire you to look fabulous for the big day, without actually talking about it.
Cook dinner. Make it a big event by getting dressed up and lighting a few candles. Who knows, maybe you’ll create a fabulous dish you’ll make for years and years to come.
Get creative. Excited about moving into a new apartment or house, but dread all the little projects you need and want to do to make it “just right”? Get as much finished as you can pre-wedding so you don’t have to worry about it when you come back from your honeymoon. Get together and sew those new drapes or restain your kitchen table.
Write thank you notes. Okay, okay. So this one has WEDDING written all over it. But! Those thank you notes wont write themselves. If you’ve been holding off on writing them, take a few hours out of your week, order a pizza, and get to writing. (And don’t forget about the gifts you receive on your actual wedding day once you return from your honeymoon!)

Happy Monday! This is a short but sweet post of a poem from a beloved poet of mine, Anne Bradstreet. This would be a sweet note to send your love just before you walk down the aisle, the day after your wedding…or on your 50th wedding anniversary. You get the idea.
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were lov’d by wife, then thee.
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me, ye women, if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole Mines of gold
Or all the riches that the East doth hold.
My love is such that Rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee give recompetence.
Thy love is such I can no way repay.
The heavens reward thee manifold, I pray.
Then while we live, in love let’s so persevere
That when we live no more, we may live ever.

Here are a few quick tips for a little green wedding planning. They are pretty obvious, but sometimes simply overlooked.
1. Attend a bridal fair. At these fairs (or shows), you get to see a good number of vendors. You can talk to them face to face, ask questions, gather information, etc., meaning you save a little energy that you would otherwise be spending on your computer. (You’ll see lots of other fabulous uses your computer and the internet can play in planning in points 2-5.)
2. Collect as few brochures, hand outs, business cards (etc.) as possible. Help save those wonderful trees and just skip the photographer’s high gloss photo paper, three page hand out. A few minutes on the internet will likely give you the same information without using those resources.
3. Schedule appointments on the same day and in a smart logistical path. Instead of going to and from your house every time you have a vendor meeting, why not make a circle and get them all finished in one trip? Plus, you’ll use less gas which means more money for the wedding!
4. Do as much record keeping online or on your computer as possible. There is no need to print out your vendor contact list every time you add to it or discover a mistake. Just keep track with your computer!
5. Use your internet resources. Instead of rushing out and buying tons of books for ideas, tips, and inspiration, just look online! A favorite resource of ours? Wedding Blogs (of course!). But there are lots of other sites that can help track your information, give you ideas, and help you find what you’re looking for.
Best wishes in your green endeavors!

I saw this post over at Wedding Scoops (a recent blogroll addition) that is SUCH a great example of what the right venue choice can do for you.

Notice the tables aren’t full of flowers or overly fancy place settings. Yet the room overall seems elegant, classy, inviting, and very upscale. Notice that the drapes and the Chivari chairs are similar in color, as well as the sconces and overhead lighting. The walls, tables and linens are very complimentary with the other elements in the room. Just adding clean glass and some low floral arrangements really pull the room together.
The best part of all is that much of what you see in the room is likely to have come from the venue itself, meaning the people holding the event didn’t have to rent additional chairs, linens, etc.
So! A few things to keep in mind when you’re looking for a venue and you want to save some change:
-Finding a place that doesn’t need lots of “extras”, though it may cost a bit more in the beginning, may very well save you money in the end.
-Working with the existing elements of the room takes less work in making the space look complete (and you’ll spend less money trying to convert the entire space into something that looks totally different).
-Don’t be afraid to ask what’s included in your package. Perhaps you can use alternative chairs for just a few more dollars or even for free.
